Catholic Daughters hold monthly meeting, discuss salad-bingo fund raiser
The Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Sacred Heart of Jesus Court #1674, held its monthly meeting May 7, in the Sacred Heart meeting room, with Regent Barbara Delafosse presiding. A special guest at the meeting was District Deputy Director Betty Soileau of Opelousas.
Sandra Duos, chairman of the nominating committee, presented the following slate of officers for the coming club year: Barbara Delafosse, regent; Belinda Fontenot, vice regent; Peggy Soileau, recording secretary; Sybil Veillon, financial secretary; and Miranda Roberie, treasurer. They were elected and will be installed at the June 4, meeting.
The calling committees for the rosary for deceased members was reviewed. All members need to be called for the rosary for a deceased member.
Mary Jenkins read six thank you notes for spiritual bouquets sent to sick members or for someone requested by a member.
The court will help to host a reception for the new priests being ordained in June.
The remainder of the meeting was spent discussing plans for the salad-bingo fund raiser, which is planned for June 11, at the Northside Civic Center. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m., the meal will be served at 6 p.m., and the games will begin at 7 p.m. There will be 10 regular games and two blackout games. Door prizes will be given and three raffle baskets will be awarded. Tickets may be purchased now from any Catholic Daughter member for $12 each. Extra bingo cards may be purchased for $1 each. Tickets may be purchased until June 4.
