Evangeline Parish 4-H Fall Food Fest winners announced
The Evangeline Parish 4-H Fall Food Fest was held Monday, November 10, in the Sacred Heart Elementary Gymnasium. Egg, poultry and pecan dishes were awarded blue, red or white ribbons. The parish contest was sponsored by Paul’s Meat Market and Grocery and Jack Miller’s Food Products.
Parish winners in the Egg Cookery competition were:
Appetizer/Salad Division: Emily Deshotel, Vidrine Elementary fifth grade, with Avocado Deviled Eggs.
Main Dish Division: Jing Hu, Sacred Heart High 11th grade, with Baked French Toast Casserole.
Dessert Division: Laura Elnaggar, Bayou Chicot Elementary fifth grade, with Black Forest Pavlova with Expresso Cream.
Parish winners in the Poultry Cookery contest were:
Chicken Division: Caroline Reed, Sacred Heart Elementary seventh grade, with Incredible Chicken Salad.
Processed Poultry Products Division: Sierra Vidrine, Bayou Chicot Elementary fifth grade, with Three Cheese Chicken Tortellini.
Parish winners in the Pecan Cookery contest were:
Candy Division: Annabeth Briley, Sacred Heart Elementary eighth grade, with Pecan Pie Truffles.
Dessert Division: Elayne Elnaggar, Bayou Chicot Elementary eighth grade, with Turtle Cake Roll.
Any Other Pecan Dishes: Benjamin Fontenot, Sacred Heart Elementary fifth grade, with Pecan Jalapeno Cheese Log.
All parish Egg, Poultry and Pecan winners will represent Evangeline Parish in the Regional Cookery Contest to be held in Alexandria in March of 2015.

Red Ribbon Winners - Everett Johnson, Sacred Heart Elementary fourth grade; and Emma Johnson, Home School Club seventh grade.
