Hollier crowned EP Farm Bureau Queen during annual meeting

The 62nd Annual Evangeline Parish Farm Bureau Meeting and Queen’s Contest was held Sunday, March 9, at the Northside Civic Center.
President Richard Fontenot welcomed everyone and thanked the women’s committee and everyone else who helped make the evening possible. He also thanked outgoing queen Kaitlyn LeJeune for the outstanding two years of dedication to educating the youth of the parish about the importance of farming while she served as Farm Bureau Queen. He also gave a brief president’s report on the past year in agriculture throughout the state and Evangeline Parish. He then introduced Scotty Fontenot, who presented the list of nominees for the board of directors, and Winston Fontenot, who gave the insurance report to the members in attendance.
Before the contestants were introduced and presented, LeJeune gave her farewell address and said she enjoyed her reign and made some wonderful memories. She also wished the new queen well and stressed the importance of beginning the job of advocating for farmers as soon as possible.
While the judges’ scores were being tabulated, a video on the importance of farmer tractor safety was shown.
Emcee Dianna Fontenot then announced Rebecca Hollier as the 61th Evangeline Parish Farm Bureau Queen. Hollier is the 17-year-old daughter of Mark and Liz Hollier of Ville Platte.
