Magnolia Garden Club members enjoy Christmas social
The Magnolia Garden Club held its annual Christmas social December 3, at the home of Paula Landreneau. She and Lola Fontenot were the hostesses for the occasion. Ten garden club members and nine guests attended, including members Geannie Ardoin, Theresa Attales, Hazel Fontenot, Lola Fontenot, Elaine LaTour, Lynn Landreneau, Paula Landreneau, Glenda Mitchell, Theresa Reed and Dalayne Veillon; and guests Kathy Norris Morein, Cathy Ashlock, Jeanne Comeaux, Joan F. Fontenot, Susan R. Holden, Nina David, Susan J. Fusilier, Barbara Buroker and Lacey Soileau.
President Hazel Fontenot wished everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. She explained the landscaping and placement of the bench at the post office and thanked members for their participation in this project. She and other members had received many favorable remarks from members of the community.
A committee from the Magnolia Garden Club selected two homes, two businesses and one civic building as the best decorated for Christmas on Wednesday, December 18. The committee placed plaques at the winners’ locations. The slogan for the contest was “Clean Up and Light Up to Honor the Christmas Season.”
Those attending enjoyed a delicious holiday meal and the camaraderie of the Christmas occasion without a care for the extremely cold, rainy inclement weather of the day.
