McMillens celebrate 50 years of wedded bliss
Johnnie and Jeanette McMillen of L’anse Aux Pailles recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary and vow renewal with a lovely reception at their home on October 30, 2015.
The couple was married on October 30, 1965, at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church in Church Point.
They are the parents of four children, Lisa McMillen of L’anse Aux Pailles, Eric McMillen of Baton Rouge, Christie Soileau of Point Blue and Ashley Butler of Youngsville. Also included in their family is their niece, Lacie Soileau of Ville Platte.
The McMillens are the proud grandparents of nine grandchildren, Kimberly, Nicholas and Payton Simon, Eliska and Jonathan McMillen, Abigail, Connor and Aidan Soileau and Rylie Soileau; and two great-grandchildren, Annabelle Marie Simon and Samuel Paul Simon.
At dusk on the evening of their anniversary, a lovely vow renewal ceremony was held outside with the oak trees adorned with lights and beautiful white roses illuminated by candle light. The ceremony was officiated by their son-in-law, Joah Butler of Youngsville.
Mr. and Mrs. McMillen were each presented an orchid to wear for the occasion by Eric McMillen and Lynne Roussell.
There was a lovely, two-tiered gold and white cake topped with a golden number 50.
The ceremony and reception were hosted by their children and Lacie Soileau, Kimberly Simon, Payton Simon, Lauren Sylvester, Lynne Roussell, Helen Thibodeaux, Tammy Thibodeaux, Amie Pitre and Emma Manuel.
The family thanks Lynne Roussell and Kimberly Simon for all their help with the beautiful decorations. The honorees received beautiful gifts and cards as a remembrance of this special occasion, which was enjoyed by everyone who attended.
