The 24th Annual Smoked Meat Festival will hold a beauty pageant, for contestants ages 0-13 years, on Thursday, June 23. The pageant will be held at the Ville Platte Northside Civic Center beginning at 6 p.m. A registration fee of $35 will be charged. Door registration also will be accepted the day of the pageant with an additional $10 fee.
Attire is Sunday best only for ages 0-10, and no big hair or make-up will be allowed. For ages 11-13, formal party dresses or tea-length dresses will be accepted. Girls may wear a little make-up.
The age divisions and times are as follows: Petit Bebe Miss/Master (0-5 months); Baby Miss and Master (6-11 months); Toddler Miss and Master (12-23 months); Tiny Miss and Master (two-three years); Wee Miss and Master (four-five years); Little Miss (six-seven years); Missy Miss (eight-10 years); and Deb Miss (11-13 years).

The 24th Annual Smoked Meat Beauty Pageant will be held Sunday, June 19, beginning at 7 p.m. at the Ville Platte Northside Civic Center in conjunction with the Smoked Meat Festival. The pageant is open statewide to girls who are residents of Louisiana. A tea and interview will be held at 4 p.m. at the civic center. All contestants must attend the tea. One parent or guardian must accompany contestant to the tea to sign the contract. Interview suits should be worn. The evening gown competition will begin at 7 p.m. Formal wear is required for evening competition. The registration fee is $60. Door registration also will be accepted the day of the pageant with an additional $10 fee.
Age divisions are as follows: Teen, 14-16 years; Miss, 17-23 years; and Ms., 23 years and older (may have been married or can be separated, divorced or widowed, with or without children.) The Miss queen must attend at least 10 functions prior to the Louisiana Association of Fairs and Festivals (LAFF) Convention in February 2017 in order to be eligible to compete in the Queen of Queens pageant. The Teen and Ms. queens must attend at least five functions during their reign.
All three queens will be under contract and represent the festival for one year. They will not be allowed to compete for any other title. The Miss queen will also attend the Queen of Queens Pageant in Baton Rouge during the LAFF Convention in February 2017.
