For McKensie Guillory, the title of Teen Miss Smoked Meat is the fairest title of them all.
Guillory, the outgoing Teen Miss Smoked Meat, said, “Yes, (I have held) plenty of them (other titles), but none compare to being Teen Miss Smoked Meat.”
During her reign, Guillory said she made many good memories like being crowned, tasting foods and having a good time.
“I got to experience different festivals and meet different queens and girls competing,” she said. “I also added another crown to my collection.”
Guillory said the keys to being a good queen are a good pair of high heels, a pretty dress, a great smile and most of all, a positive attitude.
Guillory attended the Krotz Springs Sportsman Heritage Festival as Teen Miss Smoked Meat. While representing the Smoked Meat Festival at other festivals, Guillory learned that being the face of a festival can be both work and play.
“I learned that representing the festivals comes with dedication and hard work, but it is rewarding fun,” she said.
Guillory hopes her successor enjoys every minute of her reign.
“It will pass quickly,” she added.
Guillory’s parents are Robert and Brandi Guillory, and her grandparents are Randy and Barbara Armond and David and Lisa Guillory. She is a sophomore at North Central High School. Guillory enjoys softball, being outside, hunting, fishing, talking to friends, swimming and babysitting. She is involved in FFA, and she would like to be a pediatrician.
Guillory wished to thank her family and friends, especially her mom and dad as well as her queen sisters.
“It has been a great year because of you all,” she said.
