Two Non-Blondes radio show hosts visit Ville Platte Rotary Club

February 3, Meeting
Rotarian Allan Farr invited Jennifer Meylian and Stephanie Ware, hosts of “The 2 Non-Blondes Cafe with Jenn and Steph” on KVPI, to address the February 3, meeting of the Ville Platte Rotary Club.
Meylian stated the show has been very successful since it began in July 2014, noting they are on the air from 9 a.m. to 12 noon Monday through Thursday each week. Meylian has been with the station for four years following a variety of jobs after moving to Ville Platte from her native Wyoming 15 years ago.
As an interior design major, getting into radio broadcasting was a complete change for her. However, she enjoys it and has met a lot of people and had the opportunity to interview several celebrities. She thanked Station Manager Mark Layne for his support of their show, despite his initial resistance to the idea of having two women hosting a show together. She thanked everyone and said she appreciates all of the listeners who support their program.
Ware, a native of New Orleans who attended college in Lafayette majoring in communications and English, has lived in Evangeline Parish for seven years.
Prior to moving to the area, she worked on a political radio talk show in Lafayette. Ware said their show leans more toward the entertainment aspect and has connected to so many people out there that they never knew listened to the station.
She noted that a popular segment of their show is the nearly impossible question, which generates a lot of call ins and responses on the show’s Facebook page. She also admitted it is nice to know that KVPI is now reaching an expanded audience.
Ware added that journalists from the New York Times were in Ville Platte to interview Mark Layne about the French programming on KVPI for a future article in the paper.
