Ville Platte Rotary Club hears from District Governor Proctor

During the September 30, meeting of the Ville Platte Rotary Club, members welcomed Rotary International District Governor for District #6200 Ezora J. Proctor of Crowley. She began by commending President David Mayeux and the board doing a wonderful job and setting the pace for the club members and the community and saluted them for making a difference. She proclaimed that Rotary International, at 1.2 million Rotarians in more than 200 countries, is a wonderful organization. Proctor then congratulated the Ville Platte club for their community projects, including scholarships to LSU Eunice and Coreil Campus of Louisiana Technical College and supporting a youth Rotary Interact Club, Faith House, Choices program and football pools. She said she and her husband have traveled abroad and always visit Rotary leaders and clubs in whatever country they are in. She stressed that Rotary International is a large family there to support each other, be there for each other and enrich each others lives in a positive way.
Proctor then invited her husband, Dr. James Proctor, to announce the district-wide Rotary spouse campaign to begin a literacy and nutrition program to second grade classes in the district schools. He challenged each club to donate books on healthy eating and fitness to second graders, as well as provide students a healthy snack. The program is designed to attack obesity and literacy problems in today’s youth. He asked the Ville Platte club to “buy into” the program, as other clubs in District #6200 have already done.
In closing, District Governor Proctor, along with Assistant District Governor Yvonne Normand, honored long-time Rotarian Brent Coreil with a Medallion of Honor for his over 40 years of dedication and service to the Rotary organization.
