Ville Platte Rotary Club installs new members
On Tuesday, November 3, the Ville Platte Rotary Club inducted three new members into the group during a special induction ceremony. Rotarian Wayne Vidrine stated it is the duty and responsibility of club members to welcome new members to the club and mentor them. He added that the club has gotten out of the practice of the new members giving a classification talk introducing themselves to the club. However, he would like to see that reinstated and asked the new members to prepare an introductory program whenever it is their turn to host the program. For their benefit, Vidrine also gave a brief history of the Ville Platte Rotary Club and its community involvement, noting it was sponsored by the Eunice Rotary Club and chartered in 1929. Rotarian Larry Lachney, left, and Vidrine, second from left, then installed Lucas Fontenot, Nicole Fruge Courville and Peggy Tate as new members of the Ville Platte Rotary Club. New members Fannie Soileau and Steven Williams, who were not present at the meeting, will be inducted at a later date. (Gazette photos by Heather Bogard)
