VPES students perform well at fitness meet

Ville Platte Elementary School placed first overall at the recent Evangeline Parish Fitness Meet. Three students, Jerez Edwards, Kaydan Coward and Lanaiya Thomas, will be competing in Baton Rouge on May 3.
The VPE winners, managed by Alaija Leday, were announced as follows:
Jamilla Larnette - sit and reach, first place.
Kaydan Coward - sit and reach, second place; pull ups, first place (10); standing long jump, second place (6.7); first place overall female athlete; and 50 yard dash, second place.
Lanaiya Thomas - sit and reach, third place; and curl ups, first place.
Tyquan Hebert - sit and reach, first place; and curl ups, second place (105).
Jerez Edwards - curl ups, first place (118); 600 yard dash, first place (1.46 seconds); and second place overall male athlete.
Ryan Bertrand - 50 yard dash, second place.
