Washington Garden Club to host “Lights, Camera Action!” Tea

Gazette Staff Report

The Washington Garden Club will host its Ninth High Tea on Sunday, April 17, at 2 p.m. This event, themed “Lights, Camera, Action!,” will be held at the Wolff Banquet and Reception Hall in Washington.
The three food courses will include a traditional tea menu and local favorites. A different tea will be served with each course. This will be served from silver pitchers and fine china from the club members’ private collections.
Guests will be welcomed by Emcee Iggie Castille and seated by men dressed in formal attire. Steve Smith, local musician, will provide entertainment. Cookbooks with the tea recipes will be available for purchase at the event. The setting will transport guests to the Oscars and a red carpet Hollywood event. This is always a fun afternoon for both men and women.
The Washington Garden Club is a 501-C organization. Proceeds from this event will be used to further restoration and provide maintenance for the group’s headquarters, historic St. John’s Episcopal Church (circa 1872) and its properties.
Seating is limited and reservations should be made early as tickets go quickly. Tickets may be obtained by calling 337-826-7337 or by contacting a garden club member. Tickets also may be purchased at Ardoin’s Grocery in Washington or Sebastien’s Jewelry in Opelousas.
