22 qualify for election

By 2 p.m. Wednesday, more than 20 candidates had officially qualified for the October 24th election.
Three candidates for Evangeline Parish Sheriff filled out the necessary paperwork Tuesday. Those three are current sheriff Eddie Soileau, Sidney “Joey” Peloquin III and Darin K. Bordelon.
Also on Tuesday, Evangeline Parish Clerk of Court Randall M. “Randy” Deshotel qualified for clerk of court while current parish tax assessor Dirk Deville had done the same for his post.
Nearly a dozen qualified on Tuesday for spots on the Evangeline Parish Police Jury. Those that qualified were: Rocky B. Rider for District 1, Kenny Burgess and Sidney Fontenot for District 2, Ryan Ardoin for District 3, Lamar Johnson for District 4, Kevin Veillon for District 5, Donald R. Vidrine for District 6, Grant Soileau and Kevin “Cabon” Fontenot for District 7, Ryan “LeDay” Williams for District 8 and Daniel Arvie for District 9.
Also qualifying on Tuesday were District 28 state senator Eric LaFleur and District 38 state representative H. Bernard LeBas.
On Wednesday, three more qualified for police jury seats. Those were: Robert Johnson for District 4, Eric Soileau for District 6 and Bryan Vidrine for District 7.
Also on Wednesday, Thomas G. Fontenot qualified for parish coroner.
