61-year-old man shoots older brother; charged with attempted manslaughter

A 61-year-old St. Landry man was charged with shooting his 71-year-old brother at the victim’s Bunkie home early Sunday morning.
Detective Dan Schaub, of the Avoyelles Parish Sheriff’s Office, said Clarence Bradley, 71, of Williams Street in Bunkie, was shot in the left shoulder with a small caliber weapon sometime after midnight Sunday morning.
Opelousas General Hospital (OGH) called Bunkie Police and then called APSO into the investigation at 2 a.m.
Family members took the victim to OGH, Schaub said.
Joshua Bradley, 61, of St. Landry, was arrested Monday by Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies.
He was booked into the Evangeline Parish jail on a charge of attempted manslaughter. He was transferred to APSO where he was booked into Avoyelles Detention Center #1, where he was still being held under a $150,000 bond as of press time Monday.
Schaub said there had apparently been a family barbecue earlier in the evening, involving a large group of people. However, there were only four people at the residence at the time of the shooting. He said several shots were reportedly fired.
APSO searched the home but did not report what, if any, evidence was discovered.
