With everyone present the Fire District 2 Ward 1 monthly meeting commenced, running smoothly with all items on the agenda unanimously passing.
With elections coming up on October 24 there was discussion about the renewal tax that will be on the ballot. Board Chairman Grant Soileau wanted to make sure it was understood what the tax is.
“The tax is not an additional tax,”
Soileau stressed. “It is for the renewal of the five mill tax.”
This tax goes to helping run the fire district.
Another item discussed from the agenda dealt with advertisement for an auditor for the 2015 fiscal year. The fire district is required to advertise for an auditor and wait at least 30 days after advertising runs in the paper before officially hiring someone for the job.
The 2014 audit was presented to the board for review and approval. There were no bad finding reported for the 2014 audit. The good report passed.
Before the meeting was adjourned the board passed the tenth item on the agenda which dealt with the installation of a generator at the Faubourg station. They will begin advertising for bids on a generator.
