Another abandoned structure removed in Mamou
An abandoned building in the 700 block of Chestnut Street is the latest structure in Mamou to be torn down for removal. The remains of the building shown here will be loaded into the dumpster, at left in the photo, for removal from the site. It’s the latest effort of town officials to encourage property owners to repair or dismantle abandoned and blighted buildings in compliance with local ordinances. Mamou Mayor Ricky Fontenot said town officials appreciate the cooperation of property owners in addressing property that is overgrown or has abandoned structures to improve the community.
