Arson victim becomes arson suspect

Kevin Argetsinger is in jail after his home was set on fire three days in a row.
Argetsinger appeared on a television news station stating that he hoped an arrest would be made in the fires set at his home, adding that he and his family were afraid for their lives. However, authorities later arrested Argetsinger and charged him with aggravated arson, stating they could place him at the source of the fire in the utility room immediately before the last and most devastating fire was set on Saturday, May 2. The Saturday fire destroyed the Ville Platte home. Investigators stated they believe an accelerant, gasoline, was used to set the Saturday blaze.
Although authorities are confident that Argetsinger was involved in setting the fire that destroyed his home, Argetsinger’s family, according to the KATC Channel 3 news report, is standing by his side and do not believe the charges brought against him.
Argetsinger was later charged with obstructing a fireman and attempted simple escape. He is being held in the Evangeline Parish Jail on a $75,000 bond.
