Bids for Belaire Cove Fire Station project opened on Thursday

The construction bids for the Belaire Cove Fire Station will open at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 14.
At Tuesday night’s Evangeline Parish Fire District #2’s monthly meeting, members of the board discussed that after a week delay, due to a paperwork error, that the bids opened on Thursday for the proposed plans to expand the station with a 10-foot addition. That project will allow the station to house a larger fire truck.
The board said they will review the bids and then call a special meeting in the next few weeks to select the bid for the estimated three-month construction project.
The board also accepted $5,842.18 in changes-upgrades to the fire truck for the Belaire Cove Station.
Other items approved at the meeting were:
•Accepting the bid of $70,175 from First 10 Trucks to purchase the district’s surplus equipment, a 2000 Freightliner pumper.
•Approval of John’s Texaco in Ville Platte to be responsible for servicing the district’s trucks for oil changes.
•Approval of spending $3,998 to replace the ice machine at the Belaire Cove Station.
