Building restrooms for race track discussed at Turkey Creek meeting

TURKEY CREEK -- Turkey Creek’s council and mayor spent Tuesday night discussing their effort to equip one of the small community’s recreational area with restrooms to create better functionality for the individuals that make use of what the village offers its residents.
At the monthly council meeting, the council members spent the bulk of their time discussing what the lay out and cost would be for restrooms to be constructed at Lil Dega Speedway.
A few months back council member Curry Stewart suggested that the village build restrooms at the race track site after learning that Clyde Ware, who leases the property from the village, spends around $500.00 to rent porta potties for racing events held at this location.
The village’s engineer Adam Janet presented the mayor and council members with one design that he had priced. Janet said, “The cost would be $9,000.00 for the plans you have before you. This would include two toilets, two sinks, three lights, insulated walls and roof, tile floors, and the plumbing would all be done.”
With this being the first time the council was able to review any plans for the restrooms, they decided to table the discussion until the village’s March meeting.
For the next meeting, Turkey Creek Mayor Heather Cloud requested that Janet provide the board with a few more options for restrooms with three toilets instead of two.
Cloud said, “For the next meeting can you bring us the price and specs for the Cadillac version of a restroom, the Camry version, and the Kia version. This way we can look at different options and figure out what will work best for us.”
