Cabot employees collect 800 pounds of clothing

Cabot Corporation employees Rhonda Deshotels and Monica Aucoin wanted to find a new way to help the community during the holidays, so they went to the St. Landry-Evangeline United Way to get some ideas.
What they found is there is a need for men’s clothing. They learned that women tend to recycle clothing -- buying new clothes and giving away clothes they’ve had for awhile. However, men tend to keep their old clothing. And, they found charity organizations have a need for men’s clothing.
So, instead of adopting families in need for the holidays, as Cabot has done in the past, they asked employees to donate men’s clothing. And they got men’s clothing in abundance -- about 800 pounds of it in just a month.
Cabot General Manager Mark Suellentrop summed up the plant’s efforts during this season of giving as, “We try to help the community any way we can.”
