Chataingier council suspends officer Phillips following his recent arrests
At its monthly council meeting Monday, the Village of Chataignier decided to place one of its police officers on administrative leave without pay.
The move arises out of Arthur Lee Phillips, 50, facing criminal charges in Jefferson Davis and Evangeline Parishes.
In Jefferson Davis Parish, he is accused of solicitation of prostitution as he drove a female from Ville Platte to Fenton in an unmarked car belonging to the Ville Platte city marshal office to have sex with her for money.
He was previously suspended from the marshal’s office, according to a statement, “Ville Platte City Marshal Ronald Doucet has announced that Deputy Marshal Arthur Phillips has been suspended from his duties pending the outcome of all investigations against Phillips, in Jeff Davis Parish unrelated to his duties as a Deputy City Marshal.”
Here in Evangeline Parish, Phillips is facing charges of telephone harassment.
In other business, the council:
• Heard from Gayle McDavid, the administrative supervisor, who reported all the ditches in the village were mowed.
• Approved a Residential Anti Displacement and Reloction resolution.
• Approved a sewer line for the new subdivision off of Rozas Lane.
