Cotton growing contest set, seeds available

Louisiana Cotton Festival Association Secretary and Pageant Director Kelli Buller announced that the festival’s annual cotton growing contest has begun. The Louisiana Cotton Festival has teamed up with the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry for this contest.
“We want our town to be filled with cotton,” Buller said. “We encourage everyone to take part and plant cotton.”
Participants are allowed to enter one of three categories: residential, commercial or governmental.
The contest is open to residents of the City of Ville Platte and up to one mile outside the city limits. Seeds can be picked up at the LSU AgCenter Office on Court Street. Buller advises that those picking up seeds should be ready to sign the consent form that goes with this parish’s Boll Weevil Eradication Program.
