Donations being made for swamp pop reunion

Donations are coming into -- and tickets are going out of -- the Swamp Pop Museum for the upcoming Lundi Gras Swamp Pop Reunion Monday, February 16, at the Civic Center.
Museum Director Janie Knighten said donations are coming in from all directions, including a $1,000 donation from a man in Chicago, and tickets are being ordered from as far away as California.
The museum itself is attracting visitors from even farther away, including recent visitors from Japan and Scotland who signed the guest book.
Tickets -- sold at City Hall during weekday working hours and at the museum Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. -- are $20 per person and include admission to the museum the day of the reunion. Doors will open at the civic center at 5:30 p.m. and the music starts at 7 p.m.
Other corporate sponsors who have donated this year are Citizens Bank, Cleco, Evangeline Bank, Evangeline Parish Tourism, JD Bank and Whitney Bank.
Door prizes for the reunion were donated by Jack Miller’s, Kary’s Roux, Papa Gator’s, Slap ya’ Mama and Tony Chachere’s.
KVPI has provided advertisements for the reunion and John Deville from Catfish Kitchen is donating food for the artists’ hospitality room.
