Dreams come alive at Sacred Heart High
Dreams are catching on at Sacred Heart High School, as an organization that helps children with life-threatening illnesses found a second student at the school to make hers come true.
Sophie Gil’s dream has been to attend the July Fourth fireworks display in Boston, Massachusetts. And thanks to Dreams Come True, she’ll be able to do that this summer.
Dreams Come True helped another Sacred Heart student, Josh Castille, whose dream was to go on a bow hunting trip for deer.
Castille was so thankful for the opportunity he organized an archery shoot to raise money for Dreams Come True. The first archery shoot was last year, and it was so successful, Castille was inspired to have another archery shoot this year, which took place in early May.
In April, Castille was one of eight young people in Louisiana who received Young Heroes Awards at the Governor’s Mansion. That award is given to Louisiana residents in grades seven to 12 who overcome adversity in their lives to excel academically and for service to their communities. Castelle’s voluntary support for Dreams Come True was specified by name in the Young Heroes Award citation as part of the reason he received the award.
Since its founding in 1982, Dreams Come True has helped more than 3,000 children with life threatening illnesses to literally make a dream come true.
