Drug problem, updates to water tower discussed at Turkey Creek meeting

At Tuesday’s Turkey Creek council meeting, repairs to the village’s water tower were discussed, as well as the accelerated drug problem in the village.
When it came to the water tower, Mayor Heather Cloud shared that there will be a major investment made to add a new exterior coating to the tower.
According to the mayor this investment will provide protection to the tower, which will inturn increase the longevity of the structure.
Following this discussion, the mayor also informed the council of what she believes is an accelerated drug problem in their community and across the parish.
The mayor shared that she is concerned that this problem is now affecting their youth.
Council members were in agreeance with the fact that a drug problem exist in the community.
While discussing this topic, Cloud expressed how she hopes that the Turkey Creek Police Department will take a “pro-active approach” by organizing an anti-drug campaign.
Chief of Police Robert Leggett explained that he wanted to arrange a “war on drugs campaign” to be held at Drouet Park months ago.
Cloud was in favor of this idea and suggested that the chief coordinate such event.
