Evangeline Parish voters are taking advantage of this year’s early voting period.
As of 2 p.m. on Wednesday, the Evangeline Parish Registrar of Voters office revealed that 725 parish residents had already cast their votes for the upcoming Nov. 8th election.
Nearly 100 more residents cast their votes on the first day (Tuesday) than did four years ago. A total of 434 voters took part on Tuesday which is up from 352 back in 2012.
With still four hours to go on Wednesday, there was a good chance that the first two days of early voting would also be higher than four years ago when a total of 759 people voted in the first 19 hours of early voting.
Evangeline Parish Registrar of Voters Lucas Buller expects turnout for the early voting period to surpass the total from four years ago.
“I think its going to be high turnout,” Buller said. “We are going to get an increase, specifically on Saturday with everybody off and no LSU game this week.”
The early voting period will continue through Tuesday, November 1st excluding Sunday, October 30th.
Early voting will be conducted at the Registrar’s Office between the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. For more information, you may call the office at 337-363-5538.
