EPSB specifies excess distribution amounts

The Evangeline Parish School Board voted to approve its sales tax excess distribution during its meeting Wednesday, November 20.
The excess is from sales taxes and is earmarked for teachers/employee salaries, so at the end of each year those excess funds are divided amongst employees. This year, full-time certified employees will receive $4,375 gross, while full-time support personnel (maintenance, etc.) will receive $1,968.75 gross. Assistant Superintendent Darwan Lazard said employees will receive a check with their payroll this year instead of direct deposit.
The board also approved the renaming of the Pine Prairie High School softball field to the “Charlie Cloud Memorial Field.” Board President Wayne Dardeau said Cloud moved to Pine Prairie from Mamou and was heavily involved in all Pine Prairie sports, but the softball field was his “pride and joy.”
