EPSO, VPPD seize $70,000 worth of drugs in recent sting

A recent joint drug sting conducted by the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office and Ville Platte Police Department Investigation Division Detective Jessica Laborde resulted in the arrest of Marcus A. Garrison after they confiscated more than $70,000.00 worth of drugs.
According to an EPSO press release, the drug bust was conducted “by executing a search warrant at the address of 2411 2nd Street (Eastside Subdivision) in Ville Platte,” after “Detective Nicholas Richardson received an anonymous tip from a concerned citizen” about “the sale and distribution of Methamphetamine through the residence.”
The release went on to state that “the operation was safely executed and led by Chief Deputy Major Jeremy Mitchell, along with assistance from Chief of Investigations Captain Duane Jorden and Chief of Patrol Captain Dwayne Ledoux.”
During the drug bust, which occurred on Friday, July 29, 2016, the following drugs were confiscated from the residence: 1,112.1 grams of Methamphetamine, worth $40,000.00; 542 grams of cocaine, worth $27,150.00; 61 grams of crack cocaine, worth $2,300.00; 67.51 grams of marijuana, worth $1,500.00; 13.2 grams of synthetic cannabinoids (legal weed), worth $100.00; and drug paraphernalia.
Garrison has been arrested and booked into the parish jail on charges of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, possession with intent to distribute cocaine, possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession of synthetic cannabinoids and possession of drug paraphernalia.
According to the release, Garrison’s “bond is set at $82,000.00,” and “a hold has been placed on Garrison by Louisiana State Probation and Parole Ville Platte District as a violator from prior convictions of possession with intent to distribute cocaine and illegal discharge of a firearm.”
