Evangeline CAN to hold one-mile walk
Evangeline CAN (Community Autism Network) will be hosting its second annual one-mile walk on April 26, at the Ville Platte Civic Center Pavilion. All proceeds will benefit Evangeline CAN.
Evangeline CAN is focused on bettering the lives of those affected by autism through education, support, public awareness, and peer group activities. CAN’s efforts are to support those affected here, locally, in Evangeline Parish. To date, one in 88 children are diagnosed with autism. Autism spectrum disorders (ASDs) are a group of developmental disabilities that can cause significant social, communication and behavioral challenges. ASDs are “spectrum disorders” affecting each person in a different way.
Evangeline CAN is actively in search of business sponsors for this special event. Benefits may include name recognition on the walk shirts, vendor booth space and live advertising at the event. In addition, this year CAN will be waging a friendly competition to form the largest teams. The categories will be schools, businesses and family teams.
