The Evangeline Parish Police Jury held a special budget meeting on December 21, 2016.
The jurors got together and discussed the upcoming year’s proposed budgets, which included an $1 per hour salary increase for Evangeline Parish Police Jury employees and an increase in the Library Administrative Fees from $7,500 to $22,000 per year. Juror Eric Soileau voiced his concern about keeping the jury’s budget in line but did state the he was not against employees receiving a raise and the proposed Police Jury budget for the fiscal year beginning on January 1, 2017 and ending on December 31, 2017 was passed 5-0 with four jurors (Sidney Fontenot, Kevin Veillon, Rocky Rider, Daniel Arvie) being absent from the meeting.
The budget though was passed with amendments to be made to Road District Five Fund and Road District One Fund, which will reflect the costs of engineering and contract work for the 2013 Road and Drainage Project.
The Jury also then approved the Capital Outlay Plan for the fiscal years of 2017-19. The Jury has no Capital Improvement Projects slated for those three years, as the plan will simply be used for road and road side vegetation maintenance.
The Jury also unanimously approved the following items:
• Awarding Jody Cloud Trucking with the gravel bid and second alternate bid for limestone material for 2017.
• Tim Causey was named purchaser for Region C and approved to receive a $200/month salary increase.
• Jurors Eric Soileau and Bryan Vidrine’s attendance to the NACO Legislative Conference in Washington D.C.
• Accepting the Workers Compensation proposal from LCTA.
• Salary for Julie Foreman to be paid out of Road District Four Funds.
