Fire District board approves plans for addition at Belaire Cove station

At the Evangeline Parish Fire District #2’s monthly meeting, board members discussed major updates to come.
Justin Fontenot from J Ronald Landreneau & Associates presented the board with a set of preliminary plans of the addition that is soon to happen at the district’s Belaire Cove Fire Station.
The addition, which will stick out 10 feet further than the current building, will allow the fire station to house a larger fire truck.
Fontenot informed the board that the cost of the total project, if the board chooses to go with the plans that have been drawn up, will be $183,300.00, and that the addition should take about three months to complete.
The board approved the plans that were presented at the Tuesday night meeting, but did ask if Landreneau’s office could look into the cost of a larger generator.
Other changes the board is looking forward to is the addition of LED lights, which board member Shawn Devillier requested for trucks at the Chataignier station.
At last month’s meeting, Devillier requested that these lights be put on Chataigner’s trucks to make seeing at night easier, especially if they have to drive in a field.
With a bid of $3,010.12 from Barney’s to install LED lights on all four trucks in Chataignier, the board agreed it was a good investment and decided to go with a 25-inch LED light bar on the grill and two on the bumper.
Other items approved at the meeting were:
•Purchase of turnout gear for $26,280.00 from Ferrara.
•Approval and signing of the Louisiana Compliance Questionnaire.
