Firefighters respond to Union Tank fire Tuesday night
Ville Platte, Belaire Cove, Chataignier and St. Landry firefighters responded to a fire in one of Union Tank's buildings Tuesday night, at 5:18 p.m. A unit from Faurbourg was on standby at the Ville Platte substation.
According to Ville Platte Fire Chief Chris Harrison, the fire appears to have started above the paint booth area of the building. Luckily, the fire was contained to that one facility and Harrison reported that much of the equipment inside the building was undamaged. Union Tank did not shut down during the fire, as the fire was not a threat to other structures. Firefighters remained on the scene until 8:25 p.m., when the last truck left. However, Harrison said a crew remained on the scene as a precaution in the event the fire reignited.
