Free flower bulbs distributed at city hall Friday
When the harsh winter weather settled into Evangeline Parish Friday, people began to get ready for spring flowers, thanks to the annual donation of daffodil and tulip bulbs by the National Bulb Distribution through the Louisiana Department of Transportation. As people gathered at city hall Friday to receive the free bulbs, Ville Platte Mayor Jennifer Vidrine, right, made sure everyone signed up and got in line, and counted down the minutes until 10 a.m. sharp. Then she called out the names of people who had signed up so that the bulbs were distributed in an orderly fashion. The mayor also distributed instructions for planting the bulbs and told the crowd December is the best time to plant them.
