Garage sales to be held Saturday, April 5
Ville Platte Christian Missions -- a nondenominational and non-pollitical civic organization -- is having a community garage sale Saturday, April 5, from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Northside Civic Center. One hundred percent of the money raised will be donated to orphanages in Liberia and Honduras, where the organization also plans to built two houses. The organization also is seeking volunteers and donations of working and clean household items such as appliances, furniture, artwork, linens, craft items, working electronics and exercise equipment, toys, jewelry, children and teen clothing and more. The public is invited to a Community Treasures Day Saturday, April 5, at Allen Ortego Town Square Park on Main Street from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. People wishing to sell items should bring tables, chairs and petty cash, and set-up begins at 6:30 a.m. Church or school groups or individuals can set up food or drink booths at the park. A list of the location of garage sales on April 5, in and around Ville Platte, will be posted at the park during the event.
