Haunted Hall

The creepiest place to go this Halloween might just be Ville Platte City Hall.
On Monday, October 31st, the city hall will be transformed into a haunted house with ghosts hanging from the ceiling, spiderwebs all over, and witches tucked away in corners ready to scare visitors.
Ville Platte Mayor Jennifer Vidrine said, “I want to hear lots of screams,” and that is exactly what the vampires and goblins scattered throughout the place will probably bring.
Vidrine added, “Come as you are or come as scary as you can be to our town’s haunted city hall house.”
Visitors that are brave enough to enter the foggy rooms of city hall can expect to find surprises at every turn in the three different unrecognizable city hall rooms.
The first room, which will be entered through the back door at city hall, is the carriage room. It is there that visitors will roam through the fog and scary decorations as frightening music plays in the background.
After the thrills of the carriage room become to much to handle, visitors will then step into room two -- the council room.
While most of the time Vidrine is conducting town business in this room, on Halloween night a step into the council room will take you to a backwoods cemetery filled with the remains of her council and all of the lost spirits of Ville Platte.
Once you’ve been scared enough from what lingers throughout the council room, visitors will then make their way into the third and final room, which is being called the carnage room.
It is there that visitors can enjoy an array of games and earn lots of candy while being surrounded by bloody decorations.
While the night is all about providing a scare, Dianna Johnson said it’s also about providing a safe way to enjoy Halloween.
Johnson, who took part in helping bring this event together, said, “We want a safe place where kids can engage with us and one another, and that’s what this is. It’s scary, but controlled.”
This special Halloween event will begin at 5:00 p.m. and will last until 7:00 p.m.
Be sure to use the back entrance of city hall to begin your journey through a haunted house that Johnson said will be “impressive, intriguing, and scary.”
