Health screenings coming to Ville Platte Wednesday

Life Line Screening of America, LLS will be providing afforadable health screenings in Evangeline Parish on Wednesday, August 5.
The event, sponsored by Lafayette General Health, will be held at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church-Belaire Cove Chapel, located at 2003 Belaire Cove Road in Ville Platte.
Residents living in and around the Ville Platte area can learn more about their risk for cardiovascular disease, osteoporosis, diabetes and other serious health conditions.
The screenings offered can check for:
•Level of plaque buildup in a person’s arteries, which relates to heart disease, stroke and overall vascular health.
• HDL and LDL Cholesterol levels
•Risk of diabetes
•Bone density in regard to osteoporosis
•Kidney and thyroid function
Free parking is available for the screenings, which are also accessible for those in wheelchairs and with trouble walking. Screening packages begin at $149.
