Juvenile arrested for pageant theft

One juvenile has been arrested in connection with a recent theft that occurred at the Smoked Meat Festival Pageant on Sunday.
According to a press release from the Ville Platte Police Department, “On May 28, 2017 the VPPD responded to a report of theft at the Ville Platte Northside Civic Center.”
Upon arrival the release stated, “officers learned that numerous items such as sunglasses, cell phones and shoes were taken from the center.” These items belonged to “contestants that were at the center participating in the Smoked Meat Festival Pageant.”
According to the release, those investigating this matter “have recovered some of the items and have charged one juvenile at this time.”
This incident currently remains under investigation.
