Louisiana Rural Caucus appoints Rep. LeBas as Vice Chairman for 2014-2015
BATON ROUGE - The Louisiana Rural Caucus announced the election of officers for 2014-2015. Representative Bernard LeBas of Ville Platte, has been re-elected as Vice Chairman of the Legislative Rural Caucus.
The officers are Representatives Jack Montoucet of Crowley, Chairman; Bernard LeBas of Ville Platte, Vice Chairman; and Dorothy Sue Hill of Dry Creek, Secretary/Treasurer.
The Rural Caucus, whose membership includes 88 legislators from around the state, is an organization that serves to promote and better the conditions and objectives of rural areas of Louisiana.
“Louisiana is mostly a rural state and I am honored to be a part of such an important caucus which is also the largest caucus represented at the State Capitol. My fellow members and I will work together to resolve issues facing rural Louisiana, and always keep the needs of our constituents first,” said LaBas.
Elected to the House in 2007, LeBas serves on the House Agriculture, Forestry, Aquaculture, and Rural Development; Health and Welfare; Transportation, Highways, and Public Works; and Atchafalaya Basin Program Oversight committees. He is also a member of the Acadiana Delegation and the Democratic Caucus. LeBas represents House District 38, which encompasses part of Evangeline and St. Landry Parishes.
