Mamou Council adopts lease agreement with Cameron
The Mamou Town Council held a special meeting Monday, December 23, to officially adopt a lease agreement between the town and Cameron International Corporation for the “White Elephant” warehouse on Sixth Street (next to the Mamou Recreational Center).
A public hearing was held at the beginning of the meeting and no public comment was heard.
Council members had expressed concern at previous meetings over liability for the building itself and for events held next door at the recreational center. Those concerns were addressed and the lease agreement clearly spelled out that Cameron will be liable for the building and any damage done to the driveway and parking area and the company’s property being stored inside the facility.
The council unanimously adopted the lease agreement.
In other business, the council approved the reinstatement and promotion of Allen James as a full-time patrolman with the rank of lieutenant. The council also approved the promotion of Michael Thomas and Lucas Lavergne from part-time patrolman to full-time. Lavergne also received the rank of lieutenant.
