Mamou High School evacuated due to bomb threat

School buses were parked along Sixth Street, a block from Mamou High School and students who had been evacuated after a bomb threat to the football field, were they were told by megaphone which bus was being loaded. The school sent text messages to parents, advising them to pick up their children early. A teacher the school found the bomb threat in a folder containing tests that students had turned in. The teacher called the Mamou Police Department at 12:14 o,n, Friday. The school was evacuated and investigators Mamou police and sheriffs investigators went to the school. fire fighters assisted keeping the public away from the school and an Acadiana Ambulence was dispatched as a precaution, Assistant Police Chief Katina Richard said at the school as the investigation was ongoing.
