Mamou PD makes pair of drug busts

Mamou Police Department has been working around the clock to keep drugs out of their community.
Within the last two weeks, two drug busts, that resulted in the arrest of three individuals, were made during routine traffic stops.
The first arrests happened on June 29, 2016. Arrested were Robin Jenkins and Hannah Walker, both of which reside in the Mamou area.
Jenkins was arrested and charged with distribution of marijuana, possession of a schedule II narcotic (cocaine) and possession of a schedule II narcotic (crystal meth), while Walker, who was arrested during the same traffic stop, was charged with possession of a schedule II narcotic (methadone) and possession of a schedule II narcotic (crystal meth).
The second traffic stop, which resulted in the arrest of Market Freeman, took place on July 4, 2016. Freeman was charged with possession of a schedule II narcotic with the intent to distribute (cocaine), possession of a schedule II narcotic (methamphetamine) and possession of a schedule I narcotic (marijuana).
In regards to these arrest, Chief Brent Zackery said, “We have been patrolling the streets hard and trying to arrest all of the drug users in our area in an attempt to get this problem under control. They are targeting our young children and we cannot have that.”
