Mamou Police make dozens of drug arrests

The drug problem in Mamou has officers on high alert and ready to put an end to the overuse of illegal drugs on the town’s streets.
To begin the effort to clean up the drug problem in the Evangeline Parish town, the MPD officers began executing warrants on individuals who have now been charged with drug crimes that range from distribution of narcotics to possession of a variety of drugs.
According to a MPD press release, “many of the individuals that have been targeted during these investigations became targets because of tips from concerned citizens.” Other arrest that were made, according to the press release came from “traffic stops where the officer had probable cause to make an arrest.”
The MPD warns that “if you are selling drugs on the streets, we are going to do everything we can to lock you up.”
With their “no tolerance” mind set concerning illegal narcotics in the Town of Mamou, the police department arrested 14 individuals in connection with drug related crimes.
Arrested were the following persons:
•Jeremy Bryce Willis, 31, of Mamou, was arrested for possession of a schedule II controlled dangerous substance (CDS) and possession of a firearm in the presence of a CDS.
•Chantler Shai Castro, 18, of Mamou, was arrested for possession of a schedule II CDS.
•Hezekiah Thomas, 23, of Ville Platte, was arrested for simple possession of marijuana.
•Brian Lejuene, 24, of Mamou, was arrested for possession of a schedule I narcotic.
•Donna Matt, of Mamou, was arrested for distribution of a schedule IV CDS.
•Christopher Jack, 30, of Mamou, was arrested for distribution/possession with intent of schedule II.
•Nicholas Andrepont, 33, of Eunice, was arrested for possession of a CDS.
•Keith Thomas, 24, Mamou, was arrested for driver must be liscensed, switched plate, owner to secure registration, no proof of insurance, no tail lights, distribution/manufacture or possession with intent to distribute a schedule I and schedule II, prohibited acts/drug paraphernalia, and violation of CDS.
•Keith Vincent, 36, of Eunice, was arrested for distribution of a schedule II CDS and drug paraphernalia.
•Jonathon Roberts, 18, of Mamou, was arrested for schedule II possession of cocaine, possession of a schedule I (marijuana), and possession of a schedule II narcotic (Hydrocodone).
•Toby Shillow, 23, of Mamou in violation of simple possession of schedule I.
•Kevin Landreneau, 37, of Mamou, was arrested for possession of schedule IV.
