Modern-day cattle rustlers behind bars
A Mamou and a Eunice man are now behind bars in St. Landry Parish after their alleged involvement in modern-day cattle rustling.
Dustin Brack Guillory, 23, of Mamou, and Jeramie Anthony Brown, 37, of Eunice, were each charged with two counts of felony theft of cattle and two counts of criminal trespass.
The pair stands accused of stealing 13 heifers and an Angus bull from a ranch where Brown worked. The value of the cattle ranges from $2,500 to $3,500 each. Investigators stated they believe the pair stole these cattle during two separate thefts. With Brown’s knowledge of the ranch, investigators say the men knew just where to go and which cattle to steal.
Lt. Clay Higgins said the cattle were taken and sold at auction. Only some of the cattle have been recovered so far, but investigators believe they will recover them all.
