The Mamou Police Department is showing no sign of slowing down their efforts to rid their city of crime.
On December 16, 2016 the MPD arrested Coty C. Manuel, of Mamou, after they received a call from a female accusing Manuel of hitting her.
Through conversations with the female, officers also learned that Manuel had threatened to kill the female and her child.
The MPD arrested Manuel and booked him in jail on charges of domestic abuse battery and two counts of simple assault.
On that same day, the MPD performed a routine traffic stop that ended with Bryan K. Ben being arrested.
According to the MPD, Ben was pulled over for a traffic violation and “upon further investigation Ben was found to be in possession of marijuana.”
Ben was booked into the city jail and charged with possession of a schedule I (marijuana).
Recently the MPD also arrested two women that had outstanding warrants in near by parishes.
The first to be arrested was Victoria J. Acosta, of Scott, who had a warrant for her arrest in St. Landry Parish. The second arrest was of Bailey R. Ludlow, of Lafayette, who had a warrant for her arrest in Lafayette Parish.
Both women had warrants for contempt of court.
At this time, the MPD plans to continue being tough on crime in an attempt to make Mamou a safer place for their residents.
