MPD recover stolen vehicle; make multiple drug arrests

The Mamou Police Department recently recovered a vehicle that had been stolen in Texas and driven back to Evangeline Parish.
According to the MPD, officers from Bridge City, TX, contacted the department requesting assistance in locating two individuals that had stolen a black Chevrolet Camaro that they believed were headed to Mamou.
On August 7, 2016, MPD officers found the vehicle at a residence located at 908 9th St. in Mamou. Arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle were Elliot Slaten, 27, and Rosemary Andrews, 24.
Along with these two arrest, the MPD has also been busy working to take drugs off of their streets and put a stop to the domestic abuse occurring within the city limits.
Within the last two weeks, officers have made five drug arrests, which all resulted from routine traffic stops.
Arrested were the following persons:
•Bart R. Fontenot, 1545 Zenon Rd., Ville Platte, was arrested on July 27, 2016 for possession of a schedule II controlled dangerous substance (CDS) (hydrocodone).
•Timothy Johnson, 217 7th St., Mamou, was arrested on August 1, 2016 for possession of a schedule II CDS (cocaine).
•Stacey F. Le, 307 Rue De Aimee, Ville Platte, was arrested on August 1, 2016 for possession of a schedule II CDS (pills).
•Rodney Darjean II, 1025 Montgomery Rd., Opelousas, was arrested on August 1, 2016 for possession with the intent to distribute a schedule II CDS (crystal meth).
•Travis Deshotel, 443 Lanse Blue Rd., Ville Platte, was arrested on August 1, 2016 for possession of a schedule II CDS (crystal meth).
Arrested on domestic charges were the following persons:
•Marvin Freeman, 219 Cross St., Mamou, was arrested on August 2, 2016 for domestic abuse battery.
•Kaylee Saucier, 220 Balfa Brothers St., Mamou, was arrested on August 2, 2016 for domestic abuse battery.
•Ronald McGee, 1312 Railroad St., Mamou, was arrested on August 2, 2016 for domestic abuse battery.
•Ashley R. Henry, 1010 Main St., Apt. 154, Mamou, was arrested on August 7, 2016 for domestic abuse battery, obstruction of justice and cruelty to a juvenile.
