MPD releases image of suspect; man stabbed during Mardi Gras

The Mamou Police Department recently released images of the criminal who recently broke into one of the town’s local pharmacies.
According to the MPD press release, the “tall subject,” who was “wearing a grey in color hoodie, blue jeans, and brown style shoes,” broke into Poinciana Pharmacy on the night of January 18, 2016.
MPD Officers Chris Lemaire and Brandon Stagg were dispatched to the location of the pharmacy around 10:30 p.m. in reference to an alarm activation.
With the assistance of Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Deputies and the pharmacy owner, a review of the medications was performed. According to the press release, “approximately 2,000 Narco 5 milligram (mg), 3,000 Narco 10 mg, and 2,000 Narco 7.5 mg,” and hold a “street value of $48,000.”
At this time, there have been no arrest made in connection with this crime.
Other investigations that are underway in the parish of Evangeline involve a recent stabbing that took place in Mamou on Mardi Gras.
According to Mamou Police Chief Allen Noel, the man that was stabbed on Tuesday near a bandstand set up on 6th Street, at this time “is still in stable condition.”
Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office, who is investigating the stabbing, say that there is a suspect in connection with this crime. No arrest, however, has been made yet.
At this time, the sheriff’s office is not releasing the name of the suspect in custody.
