One week after the resignation of former Assistant District Attorney Timmy Fontenot, the D.A.’s office named Chris Ludeau as his replacement.
Evangeline Parish D.A. Trent Brignac held a meeting with his staff on Thursday to introduce the 30-year-old as the newest felony prosecutor in the parish.
Brignac said, “I have y’all here today to welcome the newest member of our team, Mr. Chris Ludeau.”
Following the meeting, the Ville Platte native wasted no time diving right into his new position by being present in court with the other A.D.A.s as they tended to their current felony docket.
The D.A.’s office was forced to make this change after a hearing was held to address possible misconduct on the part of Fontenot. It was after that January 25, 2017 hearing with the Louisiana Attorney Disciplinary Board that Fontenot resigned.
The district attorney’s office hopes to have a ceromonial swearing in sometime next week for the new A.D.A.
