New Chataignier alderman sworn in

Chataignier has a full council now that the newest alderman was sworn in on Monday, November 18.
Gail E. McDavid was sworn in by the village’s new attorney, Bo West, before the monthly village council meeting was scheduled to start.
McDavid replaces Alderman Nicholas Papillion, who resigned earlier this year, citing a conflicting work schedule.
After the swearing in, McDavid thanked the mayor for nominating him for the position. The village received a letter from the Louisiana Secretary of State’s office stating all of the requirements for naming McDavid to the vacant alderman seat have been met. McDavid will be up for re-election in April and the mayor and the other two council members will be up for re-election in the general election in November, 2014.
The village council was supposed to meet after the swearing in, but the two existing council members were absent, so there was no quorum. No date had been set for a special council meeting at press time.
