Sacred Heart School will be experiencing more changes for the upcoming school year as Dawn Shipp and Virginia Morein assume the role as head principals of the Catholic school.
Prior to her new position, Shipp was the assistant principal at the high school while Morein over saw the elementary school as its assistant principal. After previous head administrator Paula Diane Fontenot resigned from the position in June the school decided to have the two current assistant principals act as the head administrator instead of hiring someone new for the position.
With the new school year quickly approaching Shipp and Morein said their plans for this school year are to “continue to strive for the development of the whole child through participation in the sacramental life of the Catholic church.” It is their mission to “continue to teach as Jesus taught.”
The ladies say plans for the upcoming school year will also involve “providing superior academic preparation through a challenging curriculum, while promoting the ongoing formation and spiritual growth of the next generation of Catholic leaders.”
Added Morein, “Parents and students can look forward to another exciting year with the guidance of highly qualified teachers and administrators personally committed to their faith and love of our school.”
The “enthusiastic advocates” of the education profession say they will also strive to “impart to the students the love of learning” along with providing a “unique environment in which students, teachers and parents experience the presence and divine guidance of the Holy Spirit.”
Shipp and Morein also said that they will make faith and academics the primary focus for maintaining success at the Catholic school.
New duties will come with the new territory for the two women. Along with continuing to oversee their own campuses, Shipp and Morein will also take on the responsibilities of the former head administrator working together on issues that affect grades K-12 through weekly meetings with the religion administrator, technology director, and counselor.
The new school year begins at Sacred Heart School on Thursday, August 13.
