New programs, welding section coming to VP’s Coreil Campus

Three new business programs and additional welding courses are expected to start this Fall at South Louisiana Community College’s C.B. Coreil campus.
The business programs include Associate of Science Degrees in Business and Accounting, and an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Business Administration. The welding program is also scheduled to accept a new cohort of students this fall.
The college is now searching for instructors to teach these courses.
“We want to meet the needs of our students and offer programs that will prepare them for good paying jobs after graduation. We also want to meet the needs of our community by training the area’s workforce,” said Carleen Jones, C.B. Coreil Campus coordinator. “Now, we need help from the community with finding instructors.”
Jones noted the business instructor must have a Master’s degree as the new business programs are Associate degree programs. In addition, the school is looking to hire adjuncts to teach general education courses like English and math for the new Business programs; and an instructor for its Practical Nursing program.
“Students in Evangeline Parish will have the opportunity beginning this fall to earn an Associate’s Degree right in their own backyard,” she said. “Post-graduation, they can continue on at a university for a Bachelor’s Degree or enter the workforce.”
Other programs offered at the C.B. Coreil campus include Practical Nursing, Medical Assistant, Certified Nurses Assistant, and Automotive.
